The app's look. Four themes, six colours, six fonts and a logo, packed into one preset code.
The look is four choices: a theme, a colour, a font and a logo. You pick them in Create (see Quickstart) or later in the app’s Settings → Appearance, and they are packed into one short preset code such as f0.
Themes#
A theme is a style: its corners, its greys and how its cards, tables and charts are drawn. The components underneath stay the same.
| Theme | Looks like |
|---|---|
| Neutral | Silvi’s own: hairline edges, 0.5rem corners, soft shadows. The default. |
| Power BI | Power BI’s base theme: white visuals with a hairline edge and 8px corners on a light grey page, the title inside each visual, its data colours. |
| Tableau | Tableau’s dashboards: flat on white, square corners, bold grey titles, dense tables, the Tableau 10 colours. |
| Google Looker | Looker Studio’s default: white with no edges, black Roboto text, grey table headers, its series colours. |
Picking a theme also picks the colour and font nearest its tool’s own: Power BI takes Blue and System (Segoe UI on Windows), Tableau takes Blue and Inter, Looker takes Blue and Roboto. While the colour stays that one, a chart’s series take the tool’s own colours.
Colours#
The colour is the accent (buttons, checked controls, the focus ring, the active menu row) and the charts’ one-hue ramp.
Blue, Green, Purple, Orange, Pink or Grey.
Fonts#
System (the default: San Francisco on a Mac, Segoe UI on Windows), Inter, Geist, IBM Plex Sans, Lora or Roboto. The web fonts are installed with the app, so nothing loads from elsewhere.
Logo#
The logo is the mark beside the app’s name at the top of the sidebar. There are 48 shapes, such as Layers (the default), Database, Building or Star, drawn in the sidebar icons’ grey.
The preset code#
A code holds all four choices in a few characters. The first letter is the code’s version, currently f; the rest is the pick. f0 is the default: Neutral, Blue, System, Layers.
Older codes (starting a to e) still read, as the nearest look today. silvi update rewrites them as an f code.
Changing the look#
Ask Claude:
“Switch the theme to Power BI, with the Green colour.”
“Use the look from this Create link.”
Claude runs:
silvi apply --preset f0apply writes two files whole from the code: app/src/theme.css (the style, colour and font) and app/src/theme.json (the code, the colour and the logo with its drawing). If you changed theme.css by hand, it is kept, and the new one is written beside it as theme.css.kit for Claude to merge.
Change the look through a preset, not by editing theme.css: a preset can be applied again, a hand edit cannot.
